About Elishah "Sugar" Coate

Hi, I’m Sugar-Coate. As a teenager I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes – a chronic condition that occurs when the body's immune system destroys the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. This prevents the body from using sugar (glucose) for energy, leading to high blood sugar.

Having diabetes in High School and having the surname, ‘Coate’, I was soon nicknamed: ‘SugarCoate’. I happily adopted the name as it reminded me to turn life’s challenges into sweet opportunities for growth and creativity.

My Mission

I started developing lesson plans because I wanted to make the Bible more accessible for kids and teens. Too often, Sunday school felt like just a way to occupy children rather than truly engage them in God’s Word. I wanted to change that by providing meaningful resources for parents, teachers, and guides to dive deeper into Scripture.
My lesson plans aim to simplify complex Biblical concepts, offer thought-provoking questions, and provide practical tips for teaching and sharing the Christian message. They are designed to inspire a stronger connection with God’s Word while equipping others to share their faith with confidence.

My Work and Passions

Professionally, I work as a university tutor and Regional Coordinator, helping students aspire to enter university. I’m passionate about supporting students to succeed and achieve their academic goals—whether it’s refining their writing, improving public speaking, or building confidence for their university journey. I’ve also travelled extensively, connecting with high school and university students across various regions.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time in my garden, painting with watercolours, and have previously been involved in community theatre, where I loved expressing my creativity through plays and musicals. Whether through art, performance, or everyday interactions, I value opportunities to use creativity to make a meaningful impact.

My Faith and Purpose

Whether I’m teaching, writing lesson plans, painting with watercolours, or performing on stage, it’s all about sharing the message of hope and love found in Jesus. I believe God’s Word changes lives.  I want to help more people understand it, live it, and share it in their own unique way.
My hope is that these free educational resources encourage many to boldly share their Christian faith and turn those challenges into opportunities and passions into purpose.
